Communication Sciences and Disorders

A pre-professional degree in communication sciences and disorders will prepare students to pursue graduate degrees in speech/language pathology or audiology. According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, speech/language pathology is a highly sought-after career field with 26,000 positions being added by 2022. Audiology is expected to grow by 34%, much faster than average, and the Northeast AuD Consortium (NOADC) says that there is a critical shortage of audiologists in the state of Ohio. Both of these occupations allow you to work directly with clients of any age group, from newborns all the way up to the elderly.

The MVNU Experience

MVNU is the only Nazarene university in the U.S. and the only member of the Coalition of Christian Colleges and Universities in the state of Ohio to offer this degree program. You’ll learn through hands-on clinical and practicum experiences. The Hunter Hall speech clinic is slated to open in January 2017. Here, CSD students will have on-campus clinical practice opportunities with individuals having a variety of communication disorders and needs. Our courses are designed to prepare you for graduate study by giving you the solid foundation you need to succeed in speech-language pathology or audiology.
